ARTJOG MMXIX: Arts In Common

Thetraveljunkie.org – ARTJOG MMXIX was one of the highlights of our trip in Yogyakarta. Our expectations were really high, especially after visiting National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, and we must say we weren’t disappointed.

ARTJOG 2019 (then abbreviated as ARTJOG MMXIX) from July 25 until August 25, 2019. In its 12th year, ARTJOG would position itself as Yogyakarta International Contemporary Art Festival and still pick Jogja National Museum (JNM) as its venue.

There are 39 (individual or group) artists from domestic and abroad participating in ARTJOG MMXIX.

Talk about arts, I love this song: Chrisye – Seni. Album: Karya Original Guruh SP.

Mengapa kau meremehkan kesenian
Dan kau menganggap para
seniman itu pemimpi
Sebelum kau menyadarinya
hentikan dulu lagu ini
Dan pergilah
Hiburlah dirimu bersama kehampaan
Ingin kukatakan tentang makna seni
Namun kemunafikan
tidak mungkin memahami
Hanyalah dengan kejujuran
serta keluhuran pekerti
Kau dapati insan berteduh di naungan seni
Kesenian… kekuatan maha sakti
Kesenian… ciptaan Yang Mahasuci
Kesenian… bersemayam di peraduan naluri
Oh… Mewarnai wajah budaya
Melalui cipta sang pujangga
Dunia hampa tanpa seni dan seniman

Stay tuned for more of our adventures in Yogyakarta.
