Traveljunkieindonesia.com – Travel is life. And if you miss travel, you miss life.
Hey travel junkies, want to know how to travel in style, just like the pros? We check in with favorite destinations and what they never leave home without.
So, check this out! travel like a world of wanderlust:
Name: Brooke Saward
Hometown: Launceston, Tasmania!
Residence? I’m a global nomad for 2014!
Travel Blog/website: www.worldofwanderlust.com
Twitter: @worldofwlust
Short Bio: I’ve been around for 22 years, been travelling the world for 9 years, been vegetarian for 7 years, and been travel blogging for 1 year.
How did you first get into travel blogging: I began my travel blog a little over 12 months ago purely out of practicality. My friends and family were always asking me for travel advice as I had travelled to over 20 countries, and I eventually got fed up with spending hours writing out lengthy emails filled with my travel tips.
What do you love most about being a travel blogger: Travelling the world of course! I’m a firm believer in “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life” – something I believe is certainly true of being a travel blogger.
What’s the secret to creating a successful travel blog: Passion and a hint of obsession. If you want a ‘career’ travel blogging, these are two vital ingredients to success.
How do you get your blog noticed amongst the millions of other blogs out there: Obviously having a niche is the best way to establish yourself from the rest. I think if you work just as hard at promoting your blog as you do at writing great blog posts, then you can make it work!
What advice would you give to fledgling travel bloggers: Work hard and be nice to people. There’s no point being SO competitive and kicking others down to get to where you want, especially in the travel blogging industry. Be supportive of other bloggers, make contact with other bloggers, and remember this is a community of people who absolutely love the exact same thing you do!
How do you make money out of travel blogging: Advertising, freelance journalism, and recently Ebook sales.
How do you fit in blogging while on the road: I generally go by the rules: wake up early, seize the day, come home and write about it. I will stay up writing and editing on my laptop until I fall asleep, and wake up and do it all again!
What’s your most epic travel story: Landing via helicopter to the house from The Hangover 3 – Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate – and having a private tour/wine tasting. INSANE!
What is your favourite destination so far: I love anywhere in Europe, especially Cesky Krumlov.
What’s been your biggest travel disaster: Having my Macbook Air get smashed during travel and having nothing to blog on!
What are your top gadgets that you always take travelling: Macbook Air, Canon 60D, multiple lenses, iPhone, and hopefully soon an iPad!
What’s your favourite phrase in a foreign language: Omnia Vincit Amor – “love conquers all”.
Would you ever do any other job: Of course! I’d love to branch out into other areas of the travel and tourism industry.
What’s next on your bucket list: I really want to bungee jump in South Africa this year.
Favorite travel blog/website(s) – besides Traveljunkieindonesia.com, of course!: Ohhhh so many! I love keeping up with other travel blogs.
What has travel taught you: Patience, kindness, and ‘the bigger picture’.
Best travel tip: JUST GO.
