Short Bio:
Murni:
I’m a girl that enjoys a good laugh and is pretty easy … easily distracted by traveling invites to new places or trying new things
Vira:
Going places and staying put to go places again then stay put again and go again…and so on..

How often do you fly:
Murni:
Usually once a month, mostly for working purposes.
Vira:
on average perhaps once a month

How many countries have you been to:
Murni:
9 *cover face with hands
Vira:
A dozen

How many continents have you been to:
Murni:
2 *bury head in ground
Vira:
2

Favorite Indonesian city:
Murni:
Bandung. It’s the city I grew up in, so sue me!
Vira:
Oh this is killing me – do I really have to choose? Ok. It’s Surabaya now but it might change if you ask me again tomorrow

Favorite international city:
Murni:
Hmm…. do I really have to choose??? Madinah for its deserts and Hanoi because it’s so different compared to the cities of Asia that I’ve been to.
Vira:
Umm.. Luang Prabang for now

Least favorite country:
Murni:
Malaysia. It doesn’t interest me much. But I’ve been only to a few cities and areas.
Vira:
Oh this is so hard..okay maybe China? Though I’ve only seen a little of it.

Favorite World Heritage Site:
Murni:
Hmm.. I can’t remember which ones are world heritages. Although important, it’s not really a big highlight on my list, so I dunnow.
Vira:
Derawan Islands

Favorite airline:
Murni:
Singapore Airlines. The planes are great, the hosts are friendly, and the food is good! However, may I state that my favorite flight attendant uniform belongs to Emirates?
Vira:
Garuda Indonesia on promo!

Favorite aircraft type:
Murni:
Kintoun cloud owned by Sun Go Kong. You didn’t state it had to be real 😀
Vira:
Hmm.. I never really take notice of the aircraft types 😛

Aisle or window:
Murni:
Window. I like to sleep and wake up to the view from above.
Vira:
Definitely aisle!

Favorite airport lounge:
Murni:
I’m not a lounge person.
Vira:
I’ve only been to one, the HSBC one in Soetta, so I can’t really say it as a favorite

Favorite Indonesia airport:
Murni:
Makassar. It’s spacious and crisp.
Vira:
Komodo airport! We were welcomed by a komodo statue and it was the first time I was being weighed as a passenger (when flying out).

Favorite international airport:
Murni:
Dubai I guess, just because it’s ironically lush inside, while it’s so dry and arid outside. I don’t like the size though *massaging feet.
Vira:
Basco airport in the Philippines (it’s probably local but since it’s outside of Indonesia I consider it international) cos everything was done manually, even the bags check! Baggage claim was done by choosing your bags from a pile of baggage, not on a baggage carousel.

Favorite hotel:
Murni:
Can I say 2? I can, right? I’d pick Ankermi resort in Waiterang, Flores and Thong Bay Guesthouse in Luang Prabang. I don’t really like hotels.
Vira:
The Venetian Macao cos I stayed at a Royal Suite and I felt royal. That doesn’t happen everyday.

Favorite island:
Murni:
Favorite ISLAND??? Wha??? Um… Anak Krakatau island. It’s raw, has a volcano, the water is clean, it’s surrounded by other islands. The view is also spectacular for such a small island.
Vira:
Ok. Perhaps Kakaban Island? Or maybe Batanes Island in the Philippines.. can’t decide L

Favorite fancy restaurant:

Murni: Can’t remember the name but it was a Morrocan restaurant in Sydney. I loved it because the food was so good, they had burning incense, and the decoration was very middle eastern.
Vira:
I haven’t done a lot of fancy stuff, I pick “di Mare” at the Karma Kandara resorts, Bali

Favorite hole in the wall:
Murni:
‘Sloki’ cafe in Surabaya. There are no boundaries and legal papers apparently hahaha…
Vira:
“Sloki”the disko dangdut sidewalk club on Jalan Kedongdoro, Surabaya!

Favorite fruit:
Murni:
Bananas, ripe papaya, and lengkeng.
Vira:
Papaya. It makes life easier.

Favorite food:
Murni:
Fruits and chocolate.
Vira:
The yummy ones. There.

Least favorite food:
Murni:
Durian (yes, I don’t like Durian. Stop looking at me like that!) and greasy parts of animals.
Vira:
Veggies. Sorry Mom.

Drink of choice (In the air and on the ground):
Murni:
Water and coffee, both in the air on the ground I guess.
Vira:
Water fosho!

Favorite travel movie(s):
Murni:
I have a lot but now I can only recall Harold and Kumar ‘White Castle’ haha
Vira:
Into the Wild

Favorite travel song(s):
Murni:
Nothing specific. Middle to up-beat songs and those with heavy guitar strums.
Vira:
A lot. Anything by Foster The People, “Have A Nice Day” – Stereophonics, “Blame It On The Girl” – Mika, etc.

Favorite travel show(s):
Murni:
Departures, Word Travels, Don’t Tell My Mother, and one I can’t remember its title but it’s got a blond British guy as a host.

What do you always seem to forget:
Murni:
Liquid soap, tissue, neck pillow, and pillow case just in case I don’t trust the one in the accommodation.
Vira:
That I don’t have much money.

What do you want your loved one to buy you from an airport duty free store?
Murni:
Chocolate. Better yet, a local sold chocolate.
Vira:
Easy, perfume.

Most embarrassing/worst travel moment:
Murni:
hmm…. can’t think of the ‘ most’ embarrassing moment. Is that bad?
Vira:
Traveling alone in the serene romantic Candidasa, Bali. Ouch!

What’s your dream destination:
Murni:
Amazon, Palestine, Tibet, and Saumlaki with the Tanimbar Islands.
Vira:
A non-touristy island in Greece, a balloon ride over anywhere, and Sangihe Island for unknown reasons.
