Babae: Traditional food from Bawömataluo

Traveljunkieindonesia.com Ya’ahowu! Babae is traditional food from Bawömataluo, South Nias.

It has unique taste. DELICIOUS! But, for people outside Nias, the taste of Babae is not familiar.

This food is commonly presented only on traditional ceremonies such as giving a name to newly born baby, or wedding ceremony.

This traditional menu consists of peanut smashed with turmeric packed with rice which is cooked on the clay-made cooking pot.

It is mixed with a porridge-like mixture made of white peanut (now usually using soybean). The peanut is boiled and then smashed with turmeric.
