Traveljunkieindonesia.com – Last sunday, I was invited to special lunch at Nishimura, Japanese restaurant.
Nishimura offers authentic Japanese cuisine, presenting a combination of fresh ingredients and traditional Japanese cooking style. Sushi and Sashimi, Teppanyaki and Kaiseki are to name a view. The dishes portray fine quality of detailed Japanese cuisine art.
My friend Dian Onno is always a reluctant participant in my food blogging assignments in Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. She always ‘complains’ that by the time I finish taking photos of the dish, her food is cold haha!
Nishimura, reflects the ambience of both traditional and modern Japanese eatery, decorated with paper lanterns, black lacquer tables and natural stone pathways under the bamboo-roofed aisle.
It was large and spacious.. and it had a ‘fine dining” feel to it.

Kaiseki set for my special lunch, included – three kind of appetizer, clear soup, three kinds of sashimi, boiled vegetables, grilled fish, steamed rice in earthen pot, pickles, miso soup, dessert, coffee. The earthy flavours of the Kaiseki set was just lovely. PERFECTOOOOOO!!!
It was presented very well and the portion size was pretty large. Like I said, discover Japanese food!

Then came Teppanyaki Combination set for her lunch, included – Appetizer, salad, chawanmushi, fried rice, miso soup, pickles, grilled vegetables, US beef steak, prawn, scallop, salmon, sauted mixed vegetables and ice cream. OMG it’s so worth it!
And she’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. “This is my set lunch??? it was HUGE. But I really enjoyed it“, Dian Onno said.

Lastly, came Tenku Sushi Gozen for us – assorted premium Sushi set (12 pcs sushi and 3 pcs sushi roll) and it was goooood. It was so soft, moist, light and fresh.
It was just amazing to eat like a Japanese.
However, it was fantastic. Discover Japanese food!!!
My friend and I had a lovely time. The atmosphere was great, the portions were good, prices were fine, and the food was tasty.
