EXPLORE MATSUSHIMA BAY

Thetraveljunkie.org – Matsushima has been long celebrated as a place of romance, spirituality and elegance. Come for the landscape of 260 pine-covered islands. Uncover the stories behind the mysterious caves, three red bridges, and centuries-old temples. Take a leisurely walk around Fukurajima Island. Explore Matsushima from the water with a sightseeing cruise. Matsushima is more than just a pretty place, it is a full experience.

The cruise was waiting for us to spend the rest of the day under the sundown. It was a totally incredible experience – amazing to see all the different creatures that call the bay home.

Lets kiss the sun ?????? #DiscoverTohoku

Recovery from 2011 Tsunami:
The 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami greatly affected Matsushima, but the many barrier islands spared Matsushima from the destruction and loss of life experienced by other coastal towns.

A big thank you Japan National Tourism Organization, ANA, and my readers for following and supporting me on this journey!

And now the question is, where shall we go next?
