Lady Elliot Island is a special place on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, the World’s largest coral reef ecosystem.
In 1975, the Australian Government established the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and its management through the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park area is larger than Victoria and Tasmania combined, covering approximately 344,400 km and stretching more than 2,300 km along the north-east coast of Australia.
