Luang Prabang’s Fantastic Kuang Si Waterfalls, Laos

Thetraveljunkie.org – Unexpected intrusions of beauty. This is what life is all about. Kuang Si Waterfall. We’d seen amazing photos of these falls and their blue waters, however, after a few days of heavy rain we didn’t get to see these blue but they were totally pumping and so exciting to watch… Definitely worth the drive there and the walk up. Sometimes you don’t get what you expect but it is equally as beautiful.

Kuang Si waterfalls is located 20km south of Luang Prabang and is one of Laos’ most well-known natural landmarks. It is the biggest waterfall in the area with three cascading tiers leading to a 50-metre drop into beautiful natural pools. It is so well known for its amazing blue colour but the day we went it had been raining heavily and the water was more brown than blue but we were overwhelmed by the sheer power and size of these falls. We took the scenic route by taking a boat down the Mekong river then went for a short drive through the countryside to the falls.
