Lunch at Rochford Winery, Yarra Valley – Victoria – Hi travel junkies, after a segway tour, we accepted a warm invitation by Rochford Wines to experience their Yarra Valley lunch menu.

Rochford Wines is fully operational vineyard and winery that houses a spectacular complex and a tourism award winning restaurant and cafe, as well as a permanent sound shell for outdoor performances.

We ordered a Truffle Infused Fettuccini – marinated local mushrooms with confit garlic al ‘olio, baby spinach, parmesan and truffle oil.

It was one of the nicest infused fettuccini I’ve eaten… It had yummy, fresh, rich flavours, with a real home-cooked feel about it.

In fact, it was so tasty!

Tasmanian Salmon Fillet with mediterranean flavours – baked salmon with semi dried tomato, olives, roasted peppers, quinoa, balsamic and tomato gazpacho.

The sauce was superb…

And to my delight, the salmon was amazingly soft, springy, and fragrant. YUM!

Local Lamb Vialone Nano Risotto – Yarra Valley lamb ragout with rosemary, parmesan and pangritata.

It looked good.

Colourful, full of different textures and layers and it was a substantial serve. Pangritata and permesan gave it lots of flavour.

It had a home-cooked feel to it, tasty, full of flovour and hearty for me.

Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek – 24 hour braised beef cheek with creamy parmesan polenta and Rochford Pinot Noir jus.

Chef’s Daily Selection dessert.

YUM this chocolate cake was fantastic!

And It was delicious and light, and the vanilla flavour made it taste like ice cream jelly.

I thought this dessert looked marvellous all plated up. And I hope to try making it at home to serve at a dinner parties.

Overall, I felt quite good with a very home-cooked, simple, good “honest food” taste to them. I enjoyed the whole experience.

Next time we would order 1 entrée, 2 mains and 1 dessert.

I’ll definitely come back during the day to try the breakfast menu and to enjoy the view of the vineyard.
