Thetraveljunkie.org – During our stay in the Thailand we stopped over at Hat Yai, southern Thailand, to visit one of the world’s most amazing statues, Songkhla Golden Mermaid. The Statue had been the symbol of Songkhla for over 50 years. Sculpted in 1966, this blackened bronze statuette was the work of master Jitr Buabut who was honoured as a national artist and awarded a visual arts award in 2002. Master Prakit (Jitr) Buabut passed away in 2010 at the age of 100. He was an important creator, inheritor and developer who played a very important role in distributing impressionist sculptures and paintings.
Once there you can go for a nice walk with an English tour guide who will give you an overview of the city’s history while you walk along its Samila beach.
And now the question is, where shall we go next?
