Stop For Vietnamese Coffee – While we were in Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City, some friends took me to a coffee shop for vietnamese coffee time.

Since its introduction to Vietnam by French colonists in the 19th century, coffee has become a national obsession.

I am not a coffee freak, and Vietnamese coffee is freaking good – it’s inexpensive and available nearly everywhere.

We ordered a strawberry ice cream and four of black coffee with ice and milk (ca phe sua da) are strong, sweet and generally favoured, and brewed with a dark roast over a single metal french drip filter (ca phe phin).

Well, coffee shops are a huge part of the city’s culture. From street vendors to side-walk shops, it is hard to beat having a coffee and watching Ho Chi Minh City go by.

The coffee was actually quite good. I was shocked. The blend and grind was surprisingly smooth. And it tasted fantastic.

I was tempted to order another one to enjoy with the locals or order a cup from any street vendor.

  1. I’m going to Indonesia in May to taste Luwak coffee and now you tell me about how awesome Vietnamese coffee is… maybe Vietnam should be added to my bucketlist after all. Always up for coffee!
