Thetraveljunkie.org – On our second afternoon, my bojo and I went to East Coast Park, a short stroll from the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy. Despite the humid weather, the park was lovely and cool fringed with green grass and shady trees. We joined the local families and tourists walking, biking and rollerblading along the beachside track. We spent around walking and talking along the track with a stop to look at the harbour full of ships and to enjoy the cool sea breeze. There were a number of bike rental companies, renting bikes, skates and all safety equipment.
A highlight was when a lovely older local gentleman stopped us to tell us how romantic we looked holding hands strolling and how lovely it was to see this old fashioned gesture. He told us we should always keep holding hands. Wise words!
Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped at the local Hawkers Market and had dinner. My bojo had peranakan soup and I had peranakan rice congee. We finished up with a serve of delicious es cendol.
What a lovely romantic way to spend a Singapore afternoon and evening.
And if ever you find yourself in Singapore and wanting a place to stay and wander, you should definitely check out Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy website for room availabilities!
